Biliary Cancer Awareness Month
Mate pukupuku kouawai & pūwaiate
February is Biliary Cancer Awareness Month.
Do you know the risks?
This month, Gut Cancer Foundation is shining a light on biliary cancer (cancer of the biliary system, which includes the gallbladder and bile ducts). We are raising awareness on the factors that can increase risk, and the symptoms of the disease. Through leading research and innovation, awareness and education, advocacy and patient support, we have a mission to improve and save the lives of all New Zealanders affected by biliary cancer.
Help us to raise crucial awareness this February for those who are impacted by biliary cancer in Aotearoa.

Personal Stories
Journeys of triumph, resilience and sadness told by patients and whānau affected by biliary cancer in New Zealand.
Lynne's Story
Lynne knows she is one of the lucky ones - not often a word associated with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile ducts.
More than 10 years after being diagnosed, Lynne has shared her story to highlight the importance of catching cancers of the digestive system early and listening to that ‘little voice.’
Meryl's Story
One thing Francesca Canestri wants to people to know about gut cancers is that they are mostly silent and often aggressive.
Her mum Meryl was diagnosed only three short months before she passed away with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and brutal cancer that forms in the bile ducts.
