We’re happy to announce that tickets are on sale for this year’s GastroFest!

We aim to create an event that is different from the typical charity gala. GastroFest is a decadent and interactive dining experience and all funds support our work to improve outcomes for patients with gastro-intestinal cancer.

This year’s line-up will include courses created by leading chefs Geoff Scott (Vinnies), Jason van Dorsten (Café Hanoi), Jess Daniell (Jess’ Underground Kitchen), and restaurants Ortolana and Milse. Each course will be expertly paired with wine and craft beer. The lovely Carly Flynn will MC the evening.

There’s only two more weeks until the Ask the Experts Event!

This free event was created for anyone who wants to learn about GI cancer; whether you are living with cancer, have a loved one who is, or would like to find out about lowering your risk of developing cancer.

The Ask the Experts event offers guests a chance to ask questions of a panel of both doctors and patients, and listen as they discuss cancer from both perspectives. Professor Michael Findlay, Mr Grant Beban, and Mr Arend Merrie will describe GI cancer symptoms, treatment, and the hope brought by medical research.  Dr Clare Wall will review nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for lowering the risk of developing cancer. And GI cancer survivors will share their stories of hope.

The event  takes place on 5 August from 7-8:30pm at King’s School, 258 Remuera Road in Auckland.

We hope to see you there and hear your questions. For more information on the event, and to register for a free ticket see the Ask the Experts website.

Ask the Experts

Have you ever wanted to ask questions about GI cancer to an expert? A doctor or survivor, someone who has been there before? This August, we will host the third annual Ask the Experts event, created for anyone whose life has been touched by a gastro-intestinal cancer; whether you are living with cancer, have a loved one who is, or would like to learn about lowering your risk of developing cancer.

The event offers a rare opportunity to hear doctors and patients discuss cancer from both perspectives. This free event features a panel of New Zealand’s top GI cancer specialists, a nutritionist, and survivors who will discuss diagnosis, treatment and the experience of surviving GI cancer.  The panellists will also cover the hope brought by medical research, and nutrition and lifestyle recommendations for lowering your risk of developing cancer.  Guests will be encouraged to ask questions of the panel, in the hope that all will leave armed with more information and hope.

The Ask the Experts event is part of GICI’s mission to raise awareness about gastro-intestinal cancer and support patients in New Zealand. Any donations given in relation to the event will help us to fund clinical research to improve outcomes of GI cancer.

The event will take place on August 5, from 7-9pm at the King’s School in Remuera, Auckland. To register for a free ticket, visit the event site here.
